Is Google the dark horse in the generative AI race?

I've been exploring their latest models and had a shot at a number of deep researches with Gemini 2.5Pro, and their video generation Veo. I generated the attached video with a simple prompt, and the quality is what you would expect of top tier!

It's a powerful reminder that while OpenAI often dominates the headlines, the underlying tech race is far from over. Incredible innovation is happening across the board.

While the speed of it dropped notable and it is not the same as jump from GPT 3 to GPT 4, the polishing and specialization happening as we speak

Now I have a question: Why there's a perception gap between Google's Gemini powerful AI capabilities and its market buzz compared to competitors?
