Anthropic’s architecture for running HR operations through an LLM
Anthropic just shipped a clean architecture for running HR operations through an LLM.
Six commands, six skills, fully open-source. Worth understanding how it's built.
Just released Claude Cowork HR plugin is the great generalized example of someone leveraging LLM power through separating what the model knows (skills) from what it does (commands) from where the data lives (connectors). Three layers, each are just a readable markdown files.
Quick context if you missed Cowork - it's a tab inside the Claude desktop app, built on the same agent SDK as Claude Code but for knowledge workers. You give it access to folders, describe what you need, it plans and executes. Plugins add domain structure on top.
The architecture is more interesting than the feature list. Every command follows the same pattern - take structured inputs, apply a framework, produce a formatted output. That pattern maps perfectly onto the operational backbone of HR. Not the strategic decisions, but the repeatable work that follows rules and consumes time.
The whole thing is open-source. Every command and skill is a markdown file you can read, edit, or rewrite. If your company has a specific performance review methodology or comp philosophy, you change the file.
Walked through the full structure below - what's inside, how the layers connect, and where this fits vs. where it doesn't.
