# The barrier to AI transformation is not technology or budget

The barrier to AI transformation isn't technology or budget. It's imagination and desire.

I recently spent a bit of time building something that helps to solve initial steps in Skills Management complexity.

Here's what I learned:

The Problem: Skills mapping traditionally takes 3-6 months of manual work. By the time you finish, half of the data is already obsolete. So many organizations just... don't do it. We've convinced ourselves it's too hard, too expensive, or requires some magical enterprise solution.

The Reality Check: I built a functional skills mapping application for $25. A generic production-ready version? $100-150.

How it works:

1. The Concept: You provide a brief job title. You can either add a description yourself or let the AI pre-fill one for you based on the job name.

2. The Process: Once the job is defined, you run an inference to map out the relevant skills.

3. The Output: The generated skills can easily be downloaded as JSON files, and a basic dashboard is also included (which can be customized to any format needed).

Demo: https://lnkd.in/dei9fS3V

This simple demo's point is simple: Skills-based AI is a perfect LLM use case. The technology gets you 80% there instantly, creating momentum for refinement rather than starting from zero.

The Broader Insight: We're waiting for "miracle solutions" while the tools to solve our biggest challenges are already here. The transformation doesn't require massive budgets or months of vendor evaluations.

It requires:

✅ A clear understanding of the problem

✅ Willingness to start imperfectly

✅ Basic technical curiosity

✅ Action over analysis paralysis

The Question: If skills mapping - something we've considered too complex to tackle - can be prototyped in a weekend for $25, what other "impossible" organisational and HR challenges are we overthinking?

The tools are here. The costs are negligible. The only thing standing between ideation and implementation is our willingness to experiment, which you would need to do a lot.

What seemingly "impossible" HR challenge are you ready to rethink?

P.S. Yes, the demo is fully functional. Feel free to test it and share feedback. The point isn't perfection - it's momentum.
